Padma Shri Dr. Rajagopalan Vasudevan, fondly known as the ‘Plastic Man of India’

A retired chemistry professor, Dr. Vasudevan is known for devising an innovative way of disposing of plastic waste – by using it to build roads.

It takes a great man like him, to give away his patented technology for free to the Government of India, which was sought after even by technologically advanced countries like Japan and China.

He received several awards for his work, including the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Award for Innovation in Governance and His research was showcased on the television talk show Satyameva Jayate as an innovative solution to the growing problem of plastic.
