“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” The future generation is predicted to experience a shortage of resources along with the impact of plastic pollution.

It is important that future generations are aware of waste management and do not make the mistakes that we did.

To help spread awareness on plastic waste management, WeCare, in association with Recykal and Nothing Is Waste, conducted several programs across various schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu.

The Objectives of the program were to:
  • Raise awareness regarding the impact of plastic pollution.
  • Educate the stakeholders regarding an individual contribution towards sustainability.
  • Inculcate the culture of waste segregation and the importance of 3Rs of waste management.
  • Raise awareness about the role of young generations to change the status quo in terms of waste management in the households

Through the program, students learned about various new ideas that are not present traditional teaching system.

The most often lessons that are taught are “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”. Through Awareness Programme, students are taught about modern methods of Plastic Waste Management which will enable a robust sustainable future.

The program made them aware of the impacts of improper waste disposal and how to manage it. It is important for us to be aware of proper methods of disposing of plastic waste so that they do not end up in landfills and oceans.

The first step to waste management is to begin conscious disposing of waste at home. Just like how charity begins at home, a better future begins at home too.

On the whole, the programs held throughout all the schools were a success and received participation from 10 schools and 7 colleges in different districts of Tamil Nadu.

We believe inculcating the concepts of waste management among children and youth of our country will significantly help shape our nation’s future. If you are an educational institution or an educator looking to bring this awareness among your students, do get in touch with us to know more about our tailor-made programs for your schools/colleges.
