| < 1 Min read

Swachhata startup conclave, one of the initiatives organised under the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (and DPIIT & AFD), was held on September 20th, 2022, to provide an array of funding and support facilities to startups to strengthen the sanitation and waste management industry. The event was a treasure trove of experience, knowledge, and learning from one another that helps startups navigate the waste management sector and implement their solutions.

Recykal’s CEO & Founder, Mr. Abhay Deshpande, was invited to the ‘Swachhata startup Conclave (housing over 600 attendees) to share Recykal’s journey in accelerating the circular economy in India by using innovative technological solutions.

At the event, urban local bodies also engaged in reverse pitching to highlight ground-level concerns and motivate companies to build creative solutions in the waste management sector. Some ULBs have also shown interest in partnering with a few startups to support them.

Due to increased environmental and climatic concerns, the Indian government is working to construct circularity and boost the waste management industry by investing in & supporting innovative solutions to achieve garbage-free cities.

As part of the challenge, MoUHA selected 10 startups as winners for their innovative solutions and enabled a seed investment of 25 lakhs and incubation support from DPIIT & AFD.

By formalising the waste ecosystem, providing significant opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs to build technology that navigates waste to wealth, India has taken a step closer to achieving circularity and a sustainable future!

Recykal is privileged to be a part of the Swachhata startup Conclave & catalyse the shift towards a circular economy.
